After a blowout loss on Thursday, the Vancouver Canucks try to even their record at 2-2 on a current six-game homestand when they entertain the Chicago Blackhawks.
Chicago owns the third-worst record in the conference and enters Saturday’s contest having lost three of its last four – part of the reason Vancouver is a -242 moneyline favorite in the NHL odds.
They've also dominated this head-to-head, which is why my Canucks vs. Blackhawks predictions and NHL picks have the home side in good shape to take their ninth in a row off Chicago.

My Canucks analysis
It feels like two totally different clubs when you look at the home and away splits for the Vancouver Canucks.
After a 5-2 drubbing last time out at the hands of the Islanders, Vancouver has dropped four of five at home, giving up 22 goals in those losses. The Canucks currently lead the NHL with an ugly 4.25 goals against on home ice. Contrast that to the road, where the team is second in the league allowing just two goals per game.
Slow starts have been doing them in: Vancouver has trailed after the first period in all but one of those losses, and have been down multiple goals by the second period.
Getting off to a good start will be imperative Saturday at Rogers Arena, as the Blackhawks have struggled when falling behind.
The Chicago Blackhawks have just one win in 10 games when the opposition scores first and are a much crisper 5-1-1 when they light the lamp first.
Even with budding star Connor Bedard in the lineup, the ‘Hawks struggle to score, ranking a lowly 26th in the league at 2.45 goals per contest.
During this recent slide, Chicago has scored just one goal in each of its three losses, including a 3-1 defeat last time out in Seattle. Even in their lone win over the last four, they scored just two to beat Minnesota in overtime.
That should be welcome news for the Canucks, who have held just two teams to two goals or less in eight home games this year.
The Canucks haven’t had an issue with offense against Chicago. During their eight-game win streak in this matchup, they’ve scored four or more goals five times.
Vancouver has won seven of the games by at least two goals, including a 6-3 triumph at United Center in October.
Even without Brock Boeser, who will miss his fourth straight game with an upper body injury, look for the Canucks to get back on track and find their rhythm on both ends of the ice against a team they’ve owned.
Canucks vs Blackhawks odds analysis
