The Western Conference-leading Canucks will look to extend their win streak to four games when they welcome the Winnipeg Jets to Rogers Arena tonight.

Brock Boeser, who’s put nine shots on net across his last two games, will look to add to his team-leading goal total while two of the best goaltenders in the league will likely go head-to-head in the NHL odds.

Which of these top Canadian teams will come out on top? Find out in my NHL picks and predictions for Jets vs. Canucks on Saturday, March 9.

Jets vs Canucks odds

Jets vs Canucks predictions

The Vancouver Canucks skated to another impressive victory on Thursday, this time defeating the Golden Knights 3-1 on the back of a 27-save performance from Thatcher Demko. Brock Boeser picked up an assist and registered a team-high five shots (tied) in the win.

Boeser, who’s in the midst of a career year with a team-leading 35 goals in 65 games, will look to snap a three-game goal drought tonight against the Winnipeg Jets. It’s not been for lack of trying for the Canucks sniper, though, as he’s recorded nine shots on net over his last two games and three or more shots in five of his last six outings.

Along with leading Vancouver in goals, Boeser also leads the team in shots this season with 174 shots on target in 65 outings — 2.68 per game — and I’ll look for him to take Over 2.5 shots on net tonight as my best bet.

The Jets have tightened up over their last three games, averaging just 20 shots against through that span, though they played against some pretty weak competition in the Kraken and Sabres. Prior to those games, Winnipeg had allowed at least 30 shots against in eight straight contests, including 37 to Vancouver back on February 17 — a game where Boeser recorded another team-leading five shots.

My best bet: Brock Boeser Over 2.5 shots (-120 at SIA)

Jets vs Canucks same-game parlay

Brock Boeser anytime goal

Canucks moneyline

Under 6.5

Since I can’t take Boeser’s shot prop for the same-game parlay, I’ll look for him to snap his three-game drought with a goal. Boeser had four goals in three games prior to the drought and should break through soon enough if he keeps shooting.

I’ll also take the Canucks to win on home ice as Vancouver is 12-3-2 in its last 15 home games, while Thatcher Demko has given up just one goal in each of his last two starts.

I’ll round out tonight’s parlay by taking the Under on 6.5 goals as two of the league’s best netminders, Demko and Connor Hellebuyck, will likely man the pipes and turn this into a goalie showdown.

Jets vs Canucks moneyline and Over/Under analysis

The Canucks opened as the home favorite for tonight’s contest at -140 on the moneyline and have generally hovered in the -140 to -150 range at most books heading into this afternoon. It’ll be a tough battle between the top two Canadian clubs, but I think Vancouver has the slight edge in this matchup.

While Winnipeg has been hot, going 10-3-0 over its last 13 contests, Hellebuyck has actually struggled in his last few starts. The Jets starter is 3-3-0 since February 19, posting an .897 SV% and 3.36 GAA through that span while allowing at least three goals against in five of those appearances.

Demko had a rough finish to February for the Canucks, allowing nine goals over his final two starts of the month, but has bounced back admirably. He’s held the Kings and Golden Knights to one goal apiece in back-to-back starts this month while recording a .962 SV% and 0.99 GAA through those contests.

Along with a potential edge in net, I think the Canucks should have an offensive advantage as well. They’ve scored just 2 goals per game over their last four contests but boast the fourth-best offense in the league (3.52 gpg), while J.T. Miller, Elias Pettersson, Quinn Hughes, and Boeser are all averaging a point per game or better.

Tonight’s total opened at a very low 5.5 goals but I’ll still go with the Under in what could be a goaltending duel between Demko (916 SV%) and Hellebuyck (.922 SV%). Both netminders currently rank in the Top 10 in terms of SV% among netminders with at least 10 games played this season.

While Vancouver’s offense certainly has the potential to break out, the Canucks have averaged just 2.0 gpg over their last four contests and have cashed the Under in four of their last six games.
