The San Antonio Spurs look to sweep both ends of a two-game set this Monday against the Houston Rockets when they meet again at Frost Bank Center. The visiting Rockets have been tabbed as 2.5-point road favorites in the NBA odds for Monday night despite losing the first leg of this one, 109-106, on Saturday.
My Rockets vs. Spurs prediction calls for another tightly-contested showdown like the first meeting between these budding West powers. Read below for my free NBA picks.

My best bet
Under 221 (-110 at Caesars)
My analysis
This will be a battle of two teams that can defend.
The San Antonio Spurs are limiting teams to 41.2% shooting from the field, which is tied for third in the NBA, trailing only the Thunder and Warriors. San Antonio held the Houston Rockets to 41.3% shooting on Saturday, including a 13-for-41 mark from 3-point range (31.7%).
The Rockets aren’t slouches themselves, as they are a Top 8 team in both scoring defense (109 points per game) and steals at just under 10 per game.
After giving up 62 points in the first half against the Spurs and trailing by 18 going into the fourth quarter, the Rockets finally found their defensive form. They held San Antonio to 5-for-15 shooting and 22 points in the final frame, while erupting for 37 points on 60% shooting to just come up short.
The Spurs' win over the Rockets was their first in four games head-to-head, but the scoring has stayed low across the board, with the Under hitting in all four.
The Rockets might be in the top half of scoring in the NBA, but they are a Bottom-5 shooting team at just 40.6% from the field. The Spurs, meanwhile, are just outside the Top 10 in field goal shooting at 47.3%, but thanks to turning it over 18 times a game (23rd), they are attempting the fourth-fewest field goals per game.
It all adds up to another Under between these two Texas rivals.
Rockets vs Spurs same-game parlay (SGP)
It hasn’t been pretty, but Rockets’ guard Jalen Green is emerging as Houston’s go-to guy. He’s putting up 26.3 points per game this year, albeit on a rough 40.9% shooting clip.
He has led Houston in scoring in every game, averaging 22 shot attempts per contest and topping his 21.5 scoring line in each game, including a season-high 29 against these Spurs.
Look for him to continue chucking and scoring in volume.
Victor Wembanyama has just two assists on the season, but it’s not because he’s being selfish, it’s because there’s a real point guard for the Spurs.
Chris Paul leads the team in assists, putting up 7.5 across the first two games, taking some of that playmaking pressure off the 20-year-old.
He’s still a talented passer, but in five career games against the Rockets, Wembanyama has only hit the four-assist mark once. At plus odds to go Under that mark again, it’s a nice third bet to roll into this SGP.
