Argonauts 34, Eskimos 22: Defensive back Pat Watkins caused two key turnovers and running back Chad Kackert ran for 156 yards and two touchdowns in his return from injury as Toronto scored 23 points in the fourth quarter to end its four-game trip with its sixth straight road victory.
Quarterback Zach Collaros was 17-for-32 passing for 152 yards and a touchdown toss to wide receiver Dontrelle Inman for the Argonauts (9-4), who rallied from a 21-point deficit in the third quarter. Linebacker Robert McCune led the team with eight tackles and two sacks, while linebacker Marcus Ball added an interception return touchdown.
Quarterback Mike Reilly left the game after the first quarter with a head injury and backup Kerry Joseph completed 13-of-26 passes for 197 yards and one touchdown for Edmonton (3-10), which could not build on the momentum of its own comeback victory against Winnipeg last week. Joseph also rushed for a touchdown, while defensive end Marcus Howard had three sacks.
Toronto looked out of gas in the first half when it scored one point, but Watkins made his second interception of the contest late in the third quarter and Kackert ran 49 yards for a touchdown on the next play. Collaros connected with Inman for 10 yards 4:13 into the fourth quarter and made the two-point conversion to pull the Argonauts within three.
Toronto kicker Swayze Waters missed a 38-yard field goal - his third miss of the contest - with 3:51 left but Watkins forced a fumble on Joseph shortly after to set up Kackert’s second touchdown and give the Argonauts the lead. Ball returned an interception 57 yards for a touchdown with 40 seconds remaining to put the game away.
