Tiger-Cats 30, Eskimos 29: Henry Burris threw a pair of touchdown passes and visiting Hamilton held off a late Edmonton comeback attempt to halt a two-game skid.
After trailing for most of the game, Edmonton closed to within two on Calvin McCarty's acrobatic 3-yard catch in the corner of the end zone with 1:24 remaining. The Eskimos failed to convert the game-tying two-point attempt and fell short a second time after Grant Shaw missed the potential game-winning 45-yard field goal with no time on the clock.
Greg Ellingson hauled in a pair of touchdown passe while Burris was 20-of-26 for 293 yards to pace Hamilton (2-4). Hugh Charles ran in a touchdown while Marcus Henry had the other receiving score for the Eskimos (1-5), who have dropped four in a row.
After Edmonton pulled ahead 6-3 on Shaw's 38-yarder early in the second quarter, the Tiger-Cats responded on the ensuing possession, orchestrating a seven-play, 76-yard drive capped by C.J. Gable's 8-yard touchdown scamper. Hamilton padded the lead with 1:33 remaining in the half when Burris connected with Ellingson on a 17-yard TD pass.
Hamilton extended its lead to 20-8 before the Eskimos countered, a 38-yard strike from Mike Reilly to Fred Stamps setting up Charles' 5-yard scoring run with 1:19 remaining in the third quarter. The Tiger-Cats restored the 12-point edge early in the fourth as Burris found Ellingson for his second 17-yard touchdown catch of the night, but Edmonton remained in the hunt on the strength of Henry's 7-yard scoring grab with 5:22 left.
