Roughriders 29, Lions 25: Quarterback Darian Durant threw two touchdowns and rushed for 97 yards to lead host Saskatchewan to a comeback victory under frigid conditions in the West Semifinal.
Durant was 19-for-23 passing for 270 yards and found slotback Weston Dressler in the end zone twice for the Roughriders, who will travel to Calgary to take on the Stampeders in the West Final next Sunday. Wide receiver Taj Smith caught four passes for 126 yards and running back Kory Sheets had 131 combined yards as Saskatchewan scored the final 13 points - all in the fourth quarter.
Travis Lulay completed 20-of-26 passes for 211 yards and running back Stefan Logan had two rushing touchdowns for the Lions. Running back Andrew Harris had 114 combined yards and defensive end Khreem Smith had two of the team’s four sacks.
Durant started the rally with a 35-yard run on the second play of the fourth quarter and found Dressler for 10 yards two plays later to bring the Roughriders within two points. A 45-yard field goal by Chris Milo with 4:57 left gave Saskatchewan the lead and a 28-yard kick by Milo added to the advantage with 28 seconds remaining.
The Roughriders were limited to 54 rushing yards in the first three quarters as BC clamped down defensively for much of the contest. The Lions scored 17 points in the second quarter, with Logan rushing for a pair of touchdowns.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Saskatchewan DB Dwight Anderson picked off a lateral on BC’s final play to end the contest. Anderson had five tackles and broke up an intended pass to BC WR Emmanuel Arceneaux with a thundering hit early in the fourth quarter. … Logan rushed for 53 yards on nine carries and Lulay added 60 yards on the ground on five carries. … The temperature at Mosiac Stadium in Regina, which will host the Grey Cup final Nov. 24, was minus-13.
