Blue Bombers 27, Tiger-Cats 26: Drew Willy found Nic Grigsby for a 2-yard touchdown on the final play of the game as visiting Winnipeg salvaged a victory after squandering a 17-point lead.
Willy finished 31-for-43 passing for 361 yards while Grigsby also scored a rushing touchdown for the Blue Bombers (5-1), who improved to 3-0 on the road. Greg Peach recorded two sacks against his former team and Maurice Leggett reeled in an interception and forced a fumble.
Dan LeFevour completed 19-of-33 passes for 189 yards and found C.J. Gable for a touchdown and rushed for another for Hamilton (1-4). Quincy McDuffie returned a punt for a touchdown in his CFL debut, while Rico Murray forced a fumble to go with seven tackles in another strong outing.
Willy engineered a 10-play, 94-yard drive with 1:40 remaining in the fourth quarter, finding Aaron Kelly for 16 yards on a third down to keep the drive alive and connecting with Julian Feoli-Gudino for 22 yards to set up Grigsby's game-winning catch. The ending was similar to Willy’s performance in Week 3 against the Montreal Alouettes, when he tossed the game-winning touchdown pass with 28 seconds remaining.
Grigsby’s 16-yard rushing touchdown 2:58 into the second half put Winnipeg up 20-3, but LeFevour hit Gable for a 48-yard touchdown pass on the following drive. LeFevour opened the fourth quarter with a 2-yard touchdown run and McDuffie’s 67-yard return two minutes later gave Hamilton the lead, erasing an impressive first half by the Blue Bombers.
